Meredith was born and raised in the stunning Macleay Valley of NSW, and has also lived in the Sydney/Blue Mountains region for over 20 years. Her work explores the philosophical, spiritual and emotional connection she experiences from this unique landscape. Captivated by the sheer physical beauty of this land, she is continuously intrigued by its age and geology, the processes of weathering and metamorphosis revealed at each stage of creation.
The love of detail, texture and close up view has meant the geological surfaces have provided her with a rich visual and symbolic resource for drawing and painting. Through the intricate expressive mark-making and layering of colour, her work lives and breathes an earthy sensuality. Creating a timeless day that probes the immensity of her subject and in the process pays homage to the sublimity of creation.
